Most of the larger garden centre chains have their own loyalty card. The question is are they worth it and what do you get?
Dobbies - Dobbies Club & Dobbies Club Plus
Dobbies have two different loyalty schemes. One is free and the other is chargeable. The free card is a traditional collecting points on your purchases scheme which are then converted to money off vouchers. The Dobbies Club Plus scheme is something different, it charges £12 a year (or £10 if you pay by direct debit). For this you get 10% off plants, bulbs and seeds plus 2 free drinks in the restaurant each month in addition to earning points for money off vouchers. If you have a Dobbies near you and visit regularly then the Plus card is good value for the drinks alone. You will need to spend at least £100 on plants though (or utilise the free drink option) to recoup the cost of your card so only pay for the plus card if the sums add up. A number of Wyevale stores have been bought by Dobbies so you might find you now have a Dobbies store near you now.
Hilliers - Gardening Club
The Hilliers Gardening Club is free to join. Benefits include members only offers each month, points earned for money off your purchases, a coffee club where your 10th cup is free, exclusive competitions and a free gardening magazine.
Blue Diamond - Diamond Club
Another free to join loyalty scheme. With this card there are savings on special Diamond discount days, monthly special offers and selected free tea and coffee weeks. Expert advice is available from Diamond Garden Doctors and bookable appointments are available with the centre’s Plant Managers.
Klondyke - Grow Rewards
The Grow Rewards scheme is a chargeable membership club costing £12 a year. It is a points based scheme where you earn 5 points for every pound spent, with each point being worth 1p. This is an equivalent saving of 5% back. In addition to this members can get 2 regular sized free drinks each month worth over £50 a year.
