Although the foliage of Stephanotis can withstand temperatures as low as 10 degrees celsius the flowers cannot, so when in flower they need higher temperatures.
At temperatures below 15 degrees celsius Stephanotis flowers will droop and drop off.
As a guide, if Phalaenopsis orchids are happyStephanotis will be too.
Watering
Stephanotis don’t like to be over watered during winter, wait for the top of the compost to dry slightly before watering with a small watering can.
Always water with tepid water.
Avoid getting the flowers wet as this will cause them to discolor and may cause them to drop.
Maintenance
No maintenance is required for Stephanotis unless the flowers start to drop then the flowers will need to be removed.
When Stephanotis have not been cared for correctly the effects will be initially shown on the flowers.
The first signs that a Stephanotis is too dry will be the tips of the flowers turning brown.
If a plant is too cold the flowers will droop before falling off.
